Ezra's Extravaganza

Ezra and his best friend had a combined party yesterday. His mother and I planned it around a theme, can you guess what it is?

Ezra talked all week long about how everything wonderful was for his "buh-day". If we got ice cream for dessert it was because of his "buh-day", if he got to play an extra 10 minutes before bed it was because of his "buh-day". It was so cute that he actually grasped the idea that there was a celebration all about him. Although, I suppose it isn't that hard to grasp that people would want to party around the boy who is bursting with personality!

Here's the sign I made for the party:

More pictures here. It was a wonderful little party with about 12 little nursery-age kids running around. Oh the joy of turning 3!

Bubbles in the sink

Ashlyn exploded in the kitchen the other day. Not the "up" kind. The "down" kind. I was feeling too lazy to take her upstairs to bathe her and so I decided it was time for her very first retro baby bath in the kitchen sink. How cute is this? I may do more baths there just so I can see her little head bobbing at the level of the counter top. :)

Happy Valentines Day...

I just wanted to post something romantical about my extremely attractive and loving husband. As I was looking into his dreamy eyes last night I kept thinking about how gorgeous he is and how I love him more today than I ever thought possible. I am so lucky!

He gave me flowers, chocolates, and a great big fat canvas for me to paint on! Yay! Love, love, love you hubby-o-mine!

Eliza the Hairstylist

I guess I thought I was in the "clear" for this one. I mean, she is 4 1/2 years old! But, yesterday Eliza came to me with the scissors and the trash and showed me (with pride) her hair clippings! She was so excited because she wants short hair and she thinks it looks great! I just laughed at her and told her to go show Daddy. I didn't want to burst her little bubble that it doesn't exactly match the rest of her hair do, or that I don't have the skills to fix it (yeah, that'll have to happen later when I get the time). So I settled for a, "Let's take a picture!" And, "In the future, let's tell Mommy before you think it's time to cut your hair." At least she kept all her clippings in the trash and didn't make any messes, right?

Crime Scene

Ezra just came to me crying hysterically. This is what I found. Oh my. My anxiety shot through the roof! I started hugging and consolling him--my poor 2 year-old son! I resisted the urge to re-emphasize how wrong it is to play with knives in sockets; I think he learned his lesson pretty well through natural consequences. And now to find those rubber tongs...

My son is a comedian

Okay, Shiloh and I were just talking about how our son would make a good little actor. He has facial expressions that span the entire emotional spectrum and a goof-ball personality to match. Here is what he did this morning. I was getting ready for church and heard a knock on my bedroom door. This is what I saw:
It was a good thing Shiloh wasn't around or he would have sent him right out to take off the tutu, but I just laughed and laughed and he just jumped around enjoying the attention.

Here he is make faces at himself in the mirror. (Something he does quite frequently these days).

"La la la!"

I know what you are thinking... It was Eliza who dressed him up. But your wrong. Eliza couldn't make Ezra do anything even if she wanted to (he's the dominant sibling at 2 years old). So, either I have a ballerina for a son, or a comedian in the making. I'd like to think it's the latter.

ps. Sorry for the poor quality photos, I had to take these on my phone because Shiloh had the camera at church this morning.
